Serra de Monchique

This route takes you to the highest point in the Algarve. The climb to Fóia is 18 kilometers of steady uphill, rising to 900 meters, with stunning views that only hint at what’s waiting at the top.

That sense of achievement fuels the descent down the northern side, bringing you to the edge of Monchique. From there, the road winds up and down as it loops around Fóia.

You’ll want to ride with extra focus through the section to Casais, it’s narrow, twisty, and often damp. After that, enjoy a final descent that brings you back into Monchique.
