Ratón de Getaria loop

Distance
72.1 km
Elevation
944 m
Difficulty
moderate

Named after the mouse shaped silhouette of the Getaria peninsula, this is one of the classic coastal loops of Gipuzkoa.

The route leaves San Sebastián along La Concha bay, turns inland on quieter roads, and then reconnects with the coast through Zarautz, Getaria, and Zumaia, where cliffs and open views shape the ride and make easy stops for something sweet or savory along the way.

Shaped like a figure eight, it balances rolling terrain with long coastal stretches, and the return comes via the climb of Igueldo from Orio, closing the loop with a familiar local ascent.

For some spectacular views over San Sebastian make a small detour to the lighthouse before you descent down into the city.
