Vélez Málaga, Puerto del Sol and Casabermeja from Málaga

This route blends a fast coastal start with a full mountain journey through the heart of Málaga’s inland sierras. It follows the shoreline east then turns inland at Torre del Mar towards Vélez Málaga, climbing gradually through olive groves and open farmland toward Puerto del Sol.

After Alfarnate, the road curves southwest beneath the steep flanks of the Sierra del Jobo, rolling through quiet terrain toward Casabermeja. From there, a final effort takes you over Puerto del Jaral, with views of wild hills and thick pine forest. The long descent that follows traces the Guadalmedina valley, skimming the reservoirs before easing back into the city.
