Puerto de las Palomas from Zahara
This climb starts at the foot of the village of Zahara de la Sierra, on the northern edge of the Sierra de Grazalema mountains. The ascent is relatively quiet, with steady gradients and a generally good road surface. Throughout the climb, you'll enjoy views over the Zahara–El Gastor Reservoir down below
The upper section of the climb passes through the heart of the Sierra de Grazalema, one of the finest natural parks in southern Spain. At the summit, you have two options: continue toward Grazalema or head in the direction of El Bosque.
The village of Zahara de la Sierra is also well worth a visit. It is one of the finest examples of a traditional Andalusian white village and is included in Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España, a list celebrating some of the most beautiful towns in Spain.
