Timanfaya Coffee Loop

Distance
50.2 km
Elevation
688 m
Difficulty
easy

Begin in Puerto del Carmen with the famous climb up to La Asomada. The road leads you into La Geria, Lanzarote’s wine country, where volcanic soil and sculpted stone walls cradle bright green vines. Pause at Uga or Yaiza for a coffee before starting the long, straight ascent through Timanfaya. As you cross black lava fields you’ll feel the lunar landscape stretch endlessly ahead, with steady grades and sweeping views all the way to Mancha Blanca. The ride through Tinguatón and Montaña de las Nueces keeps you on quiet, scenic roads, surrounded by volcanic cones and deep ochre slopes.
Turn south from Conil, dropping into Tías where bakeries and small cafés offer a snack before the fast descent back to Puerto del Carmen. With just over 700 meters of climbing and 50 kilometers of traffic-light roads, this loop delivers volcanic scenery, a classic Lanzarote climb, and plenty of opportunities for refueling along the way.
