Southern Route from Playa Blanca
Head north from Playa Blanca on the smooth LZ-703, skimming the Atlantic past Janubio’s salt flats. After El Golfo, the road climbs gently to Yaiza, one of the island’s prettiest villages, perfect for a coffee under the palms. From there, ride into the black ash vineyards of La Geria, quiet roads, great surfaces, and unforgettable views. A steady climb to Montaña Blanca rewards you with sweeping panoramas before descending into Puerto del Carmen for food and a breather. Timanfaya, La Santa and Famara from Playa Blanca
Leave Playa Blanca and head north through the lava plains of La Hoya toward the steady climb into Timanfaya, surrounded by black volcanic fields. Descend to Tinajo and continue to La Santa, a good early coffee stop by the sea. Follow the coast to Famara beneath towering cliffs, then climb inland to Teguise through Soo and Teseguite. Drop into Tahiche for an early coffee, then ride quiet lanes through Nazaret toward Mozaga, where a small volcano and white houses mark a good photo stop. Roll on through Tao and Tinajo as the landscape opens wide. From there, enter Timanfaya and ride through black lava fields and crater-lined roads with barely any traffic.
