Towards Lac du Bourget

Leaving Annecy, the route heads west across quieter rolling roads before reaching the dramatic Gorges du Fier area, where the scenery becomes narrower and more enclosed beneath steep rock walls and forested slopes. The first half mixes smaller rises with vineyard roads overlooking Lac du Bourget in the distance. Col de la Chambotte forms the main climb later in the route, rising steadily above the lake with broad panoramic views opening near the summit. The return toward Annecy flows through faster valley roads and quieter countryside sections with a constantly changing landscape throughout the day.
