Valter 2000
Round up your crew for a big day out to the highest climb in Catalonia. The climb faces south, so it usually opens early in the year, but always check conditions before you roll out. Ride north toward Banyoles and head to the Pyrenees. From Camprodon the climb begins, though the first kilometers feel relaxed and steady. Once you pass through Setcases the climb get harder and keeps going all the way to the top. At the summit you will find a few shops and cafes, though they may be closed depending on the season. After going uphill for the first half of the ride, it is time to settle in and enjoy the long, descent back toward Girona.
Girona - Olot Loop
From Girona the road mostly goes uphill until you reach the Coll de Caselles just before Olot. Along the way you ride through the classic countryside landscapes the area is known for. From Olot the road goes mostly downhill, though there are still a few short climbs to take on before reaching town.
Lake of Banyoles

This is one of the toughest rides from Girona. The route heads north toward the Catalan Pyrenees on calm, mostly flat roads. The challenge comes with the Mare de Déu del Mont climb. The road is narrow and quiet and as you gain height the views open up across the region. The climb rises close to 1000 meters over 18 kilometers. The hardest ramps come near the top, so pacing is key and it pays to keep something in reserve. On the return to Girona, the route passes through Banyoles and Esponella. Both are perfect places to stop for coffee or food before the final kilometers home.
