The Cauberg is the most famous climb in the Netherlands, made legendary by the many times it’s played a key role in the Amstel Gold Race.

It’s not the toughest climb around, despite what you might expect. If you’re coming in from the Daalhemmerweg, you’ll carry some good speed into the first stretch. Like a lot of climbs in this region, the middle ramps up the most, with pitches over 10%. After you pass under the viaduct, things start to ease off, and by the time you hit the Holiday Park, it’s almost flat. But don’t let up just yet, the summit is still a few hundred meters away.
