This climb starts at the base of the Mogán valley. It quickly leaves the last houses behind. The road rises into a dramatic volcanic landscape. The GC 605 narrows into a quiet, winding road. It clings to the valley walls with tight bends and long views toward the coast.
There are two ways to reach the start of the climb.
- Take the ferry from Puerto Rico.
- Descend from the mountains above.
The final section meets the GC 200. This stretch is often called the Serenity climb.

Puerto de Tauro from Puerto de Mogán offers excellent riding conditions for much of the year. The best months are February through June and September through December, giving you plenty of flexibility when planning your cycling trip to Gran Canaria. At this altitude, it's good to bring extra layers as weather conditions can change quickly and descents can get cold.
