Monte Oiz from Munitibar

Length
8.6 km
Elevation
780 m
Gradient
9.1%

This climb is one of the most demanding in Bizkaia, with long sections of steep and sustained gradient. The effort builds gradually as the road climbs higher, and the upper part feels more exposed and remote. The first 3.5 kilometers follow the same route as the Alto del Balcon de Bizkaia.

At the summit, the views make it all worthwhile with spectacular views of the Basque Country.

The climb featured in the Vuelta a España in 2018, where Michael Woods took the stage win. It was the final ascent of the day, and the riders still had to descend to the finish after cresting the top.
