Road Cycling Routes near San Sebastián / Donostia

This loop from San Sebastián first takes you inland towards Villabona from where you climb up Andazarrate. On the descent you are rewardes with views over the Bay of Biscay. For the return part you'll climb Monte Igueldo after which you'll head over to the ligthouse for some spectacular views over San Sebastián.

A short and rewarding loop that heads east toward the French border before tackling the classic climb of Jaizkibel from Hondarribia. The ascent is steady and familiar, and the payoff comes on the way back, riding high above the coastline with open views over the sea. A stop in Hondarribia’s historic center fits naturally into the route, adding a pause before taking on the Jaizkibel climb.

The main climb of this route is Iturburu but before you go there the route takes you to Zarautz first. From there the climb to Getaria will wake up the legs and gets the heart going before you roll into the lush green countryside and start up the Iturburu climb. On the way back, you'll follow a mostly flat section before you roll back into the city.

An inland ride that crosses back and forth between Gipuzkoa and Navarra, built around the classic pairing of Ezkurra and Uitzi climbs. The route follows beautiful interior roads that disappear into deep green valleys, passing through small villages where tradition feels very present. It is a challenging ride that offer plenty of with natural moments to slow down for snacks, coffee, or lunch before returning to Gipuzkoa.

This route from San Sebastián takes you over the Jaizkibel to Hondarribia from where you'll trace the French border to the town of Bera. On the way back you'll have two challenging climbs left before heading into the city again.
