The name might make it sound easier than its big brother the Grand Ballon, but climbing Le Petit Ballon from Luttenbach is actually tougher. Right out of town you face a stretch of steep hairpins on a narrow road through the forrest. A few kilometers from the summit the scenery opens up, and once you pass Ferme Auberge Kahlenwasen there’s just one final kilometer to the top.
