The Super Planche des Belles Filles became legendary after Tadej Pogačar’s stunning time trial win that sealed his first Grand Tour victory. When the Tour de France last came here, the organizers added a gravel stretch to the finish, turning it into one of the most dramatic uphill battles in recent memory. It’s also the grand finale of the Trois Ballons gran fondo.

The climb itself is short but vicious. Over just 7 kilometers you gain nearly 600 meters, averaging 8.6%. The real challenge is saved for the finale. After reaching the ski station, a brutal ramp kicks up before you hit the gravel extension. This final section pitches up to 24% in places. Standard road tires can handle it, though many riders end up on foot for the final meters.

From the top the views stretch wide, a well-earned reward before you drop back down the same road.
