The Schauinsland is 1,284 meters high and is the local mountain of the university city of Freiburg im Breisgau, located on the edge of the southern Black Forest. It is therefore one of the higher peaks in this low mountain range and, as it rises directly on the edge of the Rhine Valley, is a striking landmark. The climb is relatively long at just under 18 kilometers, but you will be rewarded with magnificent views along the way.
