At 1,164 m, the Hornisgrinde is the highest point in the northern Black Forest. Several climbs lead up to the high plateau. The eastern ascent from Schönmünzach takes you through the Murgtal up to Seibelseckle and on to the summit. This route has little traffic, you only have to ride a short distance at the end of the climb on the Schwarzwaldhochstraße, which is popular with tourists.

When is the best time to climb Hornisgrinde?

Hornisgrinde offers excellent riding conditions for much of the year. The best months are May through October, giving you plenty of flexibility when planning your cycling trip to Black Forest. At this altitude, it's good to bring extra layers as weather conditions can change quickly and descents can get cold.
