Starting from Saint-Jean-de-Sixt, this side of the Aravis climb feels longer and more gradual than the approach from Flumet, building steadily through La Clusaz before the road finally opens toward the higher slopes of the pass. The climb never becomes brutally steep, but the constant elevation gain and mountain scenery give it a proper Alpine rhythm.

Above La Clusaz the landscape widens considerably, with long views toward the surrounding peaks and ski slopes. The summit itself feels lively during summer, with cyclists and other tourist gathering in the cafes beneath the dramatic cliffs of the Aravis range.
