Col de la Chambotte is less about sustained climbing difficulty and more about the scenery that unfolds as the road rises above Lac du Bourget. The ascent is relatively short and manageable, climbing through forested slopes before reaching one of the best viewpoints in the area. Several sections feel narrow and twisting, giving the climb a more intimate character than the larger alpine roads nearby. Near the top, the panoramic terrace overlooking the lake becomes the natural stopping point, especially on quieter morning rides when the light across the water is at its best.
