Cruz de San Antonio via Salto del Perro is a climb that winds up from the barranco of Arguineguín toward the high interior of Gran Canaria, following quiet roads that rise through dramatic volcanic scenery.

The ascent starts gently through open lowlands and scrub, then becomes more sustained as you leave Barranquillo Andrés behind and turn toward the Salto del Perro reservoir near the top. Much of the road is narrow and calm, perched above steep slopes and offering occasional views of the rugged mountains around you. The final metres to the summit are exposed and raw, with rocky ridges and wide panoramas that hint at the island’s central heights. In a landscape shaped by deep ravines and ancient lava flows, the sensation of climbing toward the ridge feels like moving from the coast into a more remote and elemental interior.
